Abiquo Updates
This week CARI.net launched an entirely new Abiquo system. Thank you to all those who participated in the Beta version! In our new system the network has been upgraded and we have included a new, faster storage system. ALL storage is now “persistent/stateful” and deployments take less than 30 seconds for most images. We have included several different image sizes for the most popular images so you can now choose a size that is appropriate for your application. In addition, you now can make changes to your reserved resource limits at ANY time! If you haven’t already, sign up today to give it a try. If you already have an Abiquo Enterprise you will need to upgrade your account and migrate your data by the end of the year. Simply editing your resources (even if you don’t change anything) will add you to the new system. Mail-In Rebate for Windows Virtual Machines
Now through the end of the year, any customer that: (1) purchases a Windows Cloud server; (2) Deploys a Windows image in Abiquo; or (3) launches a Windows Server in Hyper-V on a dedicated server; AND is hosting a website on that Virtual Machine in IIS will qualify for a flat $20 service credit. If you qualify, please open a case with the host name and IP address of the VM. Service credits will be applied to qualifying customer account within 60 days of the case being opened.

Cox to perform extended test of 10G Circuit
As part of CARI.net proactive network maintenance, Cox Communications will be on site Tuesday October 4th to perform an extended capacity test of the CARI.net 10G connection. As a precautionary measure, CARI.net will be rerouting the bandwidth gracefully the night before to prevent any sudden change in the routing on the CARI.net network. While routes will change throughout the Internet, at no time will customers be unable to reach their services at CARI.net. Once the testing is complete, all routing will be gracefully returned to its normal state.

CARI.net Survives California’s Largest Blackout Without A Hitch
A massive power outage left up to 6 million people in California, Arizona and Mexico without power last Thursday. Fortunately, CARI.net was not affected by the outage because each data center is backed up by several Uninterruptible Power Supplies and heavy-duty generators. CARI.net performs quarterly preventative maintenance inspections on all backup equipment to ensure things go smoothly in power outages such as this. While millions were without power, CARI.net continued to serve its many customers during the 12 hour blackout. Authorities say an electrical worker triggered the blackout when removing a piece of monitoring equipment at a power substation. Once the outage occurred CARI.net’s UPS systems and generators automatically took over the load. This is yet another reason why CARI.net rocks! Changes to Windows Licensing
Due to Microsoft licensing changes, CARI.net will be updating the pricing of all servers running Windows Operating Systems (see table below). While we have already adjusted the pricing for new orders, the new pricing structure will take effect for all existing servers October 1, 2011.
