Configure Windows 2003 Server
Follow these instructions to configure your computer to work seamlessly with your Remote Storage Backup Server.
WINDOWS 2003 with NetDrive
- Download Novell NetDrive from the following url:
http://www.cari.net/downloads/netdrive.exe
- Install Novell NetDrive - default settings will suffice. At the end of the installation, choose to restart your computer.
- After restarting, go to the NetDrive logo in the Toolbar.
- Right-click the NetDrive logo and choose Open NetDrive.
- After opening NetDrive, click on New Site.
- Enter a name into the Enter the name for your new site field. In the Enter the site/URL field, enter http:// followed by the IP address of your backup server and the directory. Both the IP address and directory are available through the iBizPanel.
- Uncheck the Anonymous/Public Logon field and enter your username and password. Both your username(s) and password(s) can be found through the iBizPanel.
- Press Connect. It will connect to your backup server and the drive will appear in My Computer. You will have full read/write access over your backup directory. Simply copy/paste or drag/drop to move data into your backup directory.
- Should there be an issue with any of your directories/files not refreshing, go to the Toolbar. Right-click on NetDrive and choose Show Monitor.
- Click on Flush Files and Flush Directories. That should resolve most refreshing issues.
WINDOWS 2003 (My Network Places)
- Download Microsoft Software Update for Web Folders from the following url:
http://www.cari.net/downloads/webdav-support.exe
- Install the update - default settings will suffice. At the end of the installation, you should restart your computer.
- After restarting, go to My Computer. Click on the Address bar and choose . (hint: press windows + e to bring up a My Computer window)
- Once in the My Network Places panel, click on Add Network Place.
- Select Next at the initial prompt, then select Choose another network location when asked where you want to create your network place.
- In the Internet or network address: field, enter http:// followed by the IP address of your backup server and the directory. Both the IP address and directory are available through the iBizPanel.
- You will be prompted for a username and password. Check Save this password if you would like Windows to remember your password for future access. Both your username and password are available through the iBizPanel.
- You will be prompted to give your remote directory a name. Enter a name into the Enter the name for this Network Place: field. Press enter and it will create a new Network Place for you.
- Your remote directory will then be mounted and viewable in the My Network Places panel. You will have full read/write access over your backup directory. Simply copy/paste or drag/drop to move data into your backup directory.
